Officer Smith was been with the Newman Grove Police Department since January 2005.  Smith is a part-time officer and works in a full-time capacity with the Boone County Sheriff's Department. 

Smith is a U.S. Navy Veteran and has served in the Navy Reserve for 13 years.  He is presently a First Class Petty Officer (E-6).   In 2002 Smith was mobilized as a Navy Police Officer in Atsugi, Japan.  In 2006 Smith was mobilized once again to the Navy and is currently serving in Williamsburg, VA.
